The Rio Kitchen

Roles - Art Director and Photographer

The Brief The Rio Kitchen is a Brazilian food and wellness blog built around the idea that eating well should be vibrant, balanced, and culturally rooted. The blogger was ready to level up her visual presence — bringing her website imagery in line with the personality, warmth, and Brazilian identity that her audience already loved her for. The project had two parts: a full website visual refresh, and a dedicated series to anchor her signature Perfect Plate content — where she builds out nutritionally balanced meals and breaks down the Brazilian approach to eating well.

The Process Before any creative decisions were made, the project started with a deep dive into the client's brand — her audience, her story, and what she wanted people to feel when they landed on her page. From that conversation, a mood board was developed to translate her personality and vision into a concrete visual direction, giving the client something tangible to react to and align on before the shoot. A detailed shoot plan followed, mapping out every setup to ensure the final gallery would work as a cohesive system — not just a collection of individual images.

The Creative Direction The decision to lead with bold, saturated color was intentional — bright, warm tones inspired directly by Brazilian culture and the natural vibrancy of the food gave the imagery an energy that feels immediately true to her brand. The Perfect Plate series was styled to do two things at once: communicate nutritional balance clearly, and still look craveable. Every prop, surface, and background choice reinforced the same visual language, so the full library holds together whether it lives on her homepage, a blog post, or social.

The Outcome The client walked away with a website-ready and content-ready image library that finally reflects who The Rio Kitchen actually is — colorful, intentional, and unmistakably Brazilian. The Perfect Plate series gave her a replicable visual format she could build ongoing content around, extending the value of the shoot beyond the initial delivery.
